Odin's Ravens

SETUP: Shuffle the terrain cards and Loki cards separately. Each player takes one raven (Huginn or Muninn) and places it at the starting position on the world map. Shuffle your terrain deck and draw 5 cards into your hand. Place the Loki card deck within reach of both players.

GAMEPLAY: Players alternate turns, starting with the player who drew the highest card. On your turn: (1) Play one terrain card from your hand to advance your raven around the world by the number of spaces shown on the card, (2) Draw one card from your terrain deck to maintain a 5-card hand, (3) Optionally play a Loki card from the shared deck to move your opponent's raven backward or skip their next turn (limit one Loki card per opponent turn).

Terrain cards display different landscape types—mountains, forests, seas, and plains—each advancing your raven a certain number of spaces. Loki cards represent mischievous obstacles that hinder your opponent's progress. You may play Loki cards on your turn or in response to your opponent's move, creating strategic tension and unpredictable reversals.

WINNING CONDITION: The first raven to complete a full lap around the world and return to the starting position wins the game. If both players run out of terrain cards before reaching the finish, reshuffle the discard pile to continue playing.

KEY MECHANICS: Hand management is crucial—deciding whether to play your best terrain card now or save it for later creates meaningful decisions. Loki cards add direct player interaction, allowing you to disrupt your opponent's momentum at critical moments. The game scales naturally to two players since the competitive nature intensifies with only two ravens racing simultaneously, making every card play feel impactful.
