Chippo

SETUP: Set up the Chippo game on a lawn or flat outdoor area. Place the nets at the designated distances marked for the game (typically ranging from 5 to 20 feet). Each player receives an equal number of golf balls (usually 5-10 per round). Decide turn order by coin flip or mutual agreement.

GAMEPLAY: Players alternate turns chipping balls toward the nets. On each turn, a player chips one ball from the designated hitting area, attempting to land it in any of the available nets. Each net is worth a specific point value based on distance—closer nets award fewer points, while distant nets award more. If a ball lands in a net, the player scores those points immediately. If a ball misses all nets, no points are awarded for that shot.

SCORING: Points are awarded only when a ball successfully lands in a net. The point value depends on which net catches the ball. Players keep a running total of their score throughout the round.

WINNING CONDITIONS: After all players have used their allocated balls (typically one round per player with 5-10 balls each), the player with the highest total score wins the game. For extended play, you can run multiple rounds and track cumulative scores.

TWO-PLAYER ADAPTATION: Chippo traditionally accommodates larger groups, but the 2-player format works perfectly by simplifying turn management. Players simply alternate shots, creating a direct competitive dynamic. This head-to-head format increases tension and makes each shot feel more significant, as both players can clearly track the score gap. You may choose to play best-of-three rounds or single-round matches depending on available time.
