About This Game

A classic strategy game played on the dark squares of an 8x8 board. Players advance their pieces diagonally, capturing opponents by jumping over them.

How to Play

  1. Each player starts with 12 pieces on dark squares of their three closest rows
  2. Pieces move diagonally forward one square
  3. Capture by jumping diagonally over adjacent opponent piece to empty square
  4. Multiple jumps allowed (and usually mandatory) in single turn
  5. If a capture is available, you must take it
  6. Reaching opponent's back row promotes piece to 'King'
  7. Kings can move and capture diagonally backward as well
  8. Win by capturing all opponent pieces or blocking all their moves
  9. Draw if neither player can win or by agreement
