Word Flip

SETUP: Shuffle all letter cards and place them face-down in a grid on the table between both players. Decide who goes first (you can flip a coin or take turns in subsequent rounds).

GAMEPLAY: On your turn, flip two letter cards face-up. You have a limited time window (typically 5-10 seconds) to spot and call out any valid English word that can be made using the revealed letters combined with any previously flipped cards still visible on the table.

If you successfully spell a word

• Announce it clearly
• Your opponent must agree it's a valid word in the game's dictionary
• You score points based on word length (typically 1 point per letter)
• Leave those cards face-up on the table to form your scoring pile
• Take another turn immediately

If you cannot find a word or your word is challenged and ruled invalid

• Flip the two cards face-down in their original positions
• It becomes your opponent's turn

Letter cards remain on the table in their flipped positions, creating a growing pool of available letters. As more cards are revealed over multiple turns, longer and more complex words become possible.

WINNING CONDITIONS: The game ends when either all cards have been flipped or both players agree no more words can be formed. The player with the highest total score (sum of all letter values from their words) wins.

2-PLAYER ADAPTATION: Word Flip traditionally supports 2-4 players with the same core mechanics. For two players, the competitive nature intensifies since every turn directly impacts your opponent's available options. The head-to-head format means faster pacing and more direct competition—you're constantly trying to spot words before your opponent does, making it perfect for competitive players who enjoy direct confrontation.
