History & Background

Dice 10000 (also known as Farkle, Greed, or Hot Dice) evolved from traditional scoring dice games that have existed for centuries. The specific 10,000-point target version became popular in America during the 20th century.

The game goes by dozens of regional names, with each community claiming their version is "authentic." This fragmentation suggests organic, parallel development rather than a single inventor.

Dice 10000 gained significant popularity in the 2000s through digital versions, particularly on Facebook and mobile phones. These apps introduced millions to the game who had never played the physical version.

The game's push-your-luck mechanic - deciding whether to bank safe points or risk them for more - represents one of gaming's most fundamental decision types. Psychologists have used Dice 10000 to study risk tolerance and decision-making under uncertainty.
