About This Game

A highly skilled two-player point-trick game with melds, popular in Jewish communities worldwide. Known by many names including Klob, Bela, and Kalabrias.

How to Play

  1. Use 32-card deck (7s through Aces)
  2. Deal 6 cards each in batches of 3
  3. Turn up card to propose trump; players can accept or pass
  4. Jack of trump (Jass) = 20 points, Nine of trump (Mi) = 14 points
  5. In trump: J-9-A-10-K-Q-8-7; in other suits: A-10-K-Q-J-9-8-7
  6. Declare sequences (3+ in suit) and sets (4 of a kind)
  7. Higher declaration cancels lower one
  8. Play tricks: must follow suit, must trump if void, must beat if possible
  9. Card values: A=11, 10=10, K=4, Q=3, J=2 (plus trump bonuses)
  10. Last trick = 10 points; total per deal = 162 (plus melds)
